Lufft of Germany introduces a new rain/precipitation sensor based on 24 GHz doppler radar technology. This sensor type is expected to be a serious competitor to tiping bucket and weighing sensrs.

Metspec of the United Kingdom introduces special housings with louvered screens. Lightweight screens and injection molded louvers.

Li-Cor of the United States introduces it new water vapour / CO2 sensor for turbulent gas transport studies.

Envirotech Sensors of the United States introduces its "Sentry" visibility sensor.

Hukseflux of the Netherlands recently introduced its WS01 sensor for ultra low wind speed and boundary layer conductance. Application in leaf boundary layer research and wind speed measurements in greenhouses.

PMTech AG of Germany introduced its laser-optical distrometer 'PARSIVEL. Main application is to calibrate (size and velocity) of radar rainfall measurements.

Goodrich Sensor Systems of the USA introduces its solid state anemometer (for severely cold conditions) and a new icing sensor.

ASDI of the USA introduces a new line of products for spectral solar irradiance measurements.

PSI and Weston Aerospace release a new high accuracy digital barometer of type DPM 7885. Main application as a reference instrument.

The new technology of using Infrared Doppler Radar for the measurement of wind profiles can be found at Coherent Technologies. Windtracer is an eye safe laser system that gives vertical wind profiles up to 30 km height.

Thies Clima of Germany introduced its new "Clima Sensor 2000". This is a range of sensors / measurement systems specifically aimed at the support of automated climate control of buildings.

Micromet Scientific from the Netherlands introduces its long range scintillometer. This equipment covers up to 5 km.

The Russian Attex Company has recently developed a meteorological temperature profiler for measurement of the air temperature profile from 0 to 600 m. This completely passive microwave technology looks promising for boundary layer measurements, particularly in gas & air pollution dispersion analysis. Marketing and sales by Kipp & Zonen.

Vaisala of Finland recently introduced its Mini Automatic Weather Station MAWS. The system seems to be particularly compact, easy and quick to install. In the near future military versions (for tactical employment) will be released.

Campbell Scientific of the United States recently announced to replace its low cost datalogger model 500 by the 510. The 510 is particularly suitable for small and relatively low cost weather stations.

RM Young of the United states recently introduced its new 3-component ultra sonic anemometer, model 8000.

Hukseflux of the Netherlands recently qualified its thermal properties sensor TP01 for measurements of soil thermal conductivity and soil volumetric heat capacity. Main applications in soil heat flux measurement.

Kipp & Zonen of the Netherlands recently introduced a high accuracy pyrgeometer type CG4. This type has lower measurement errors than competing models. Particularly the "window heating offset" (a common measurement error for this sensor type) has been reduced.
